A Path of Ivy

Hello, and salutations! I have renamed my blog to "A Path of Ivy" for a reason. Today, we will be investigating what Ivy can represent, and why it is PERFECT for people who aren't afraid to be a little different.

But first- what do I mean by different? Do I mean the physical black sheep, or... white sheep?
While people who LOOK different get a lot of hate from normal people, this page is about people who THINK different, who ACT different- and why they should be proud, and never back down.

Like the Ivy that reaches towards the Sun- the religious folk. Okay, this is a sensitive topic for lots of people, but I'm going to use it anyway- part of the reason I like ivy. This will give you guys a good feel for people who are different than you- we're all different here, so let's give each other a chance.
So we pious ones- it's hard for us- no matter if one is Christian, or Muslim, or Islamic, it doesn't matter- if you're dedicated, life is hard! We put our faith in a Deity that we cannot see- that takes strength, that takes guts! And it does not help when arrogant people around us decide it's fun to target that part of us. We love Someone so much, and yet they make fun of that Being... and it hurts, a lot. No matter what degree, it hurts.
But we are the Ivy that reaches towards the Sun- we reach for what we believe, and no matter what tries to tear us down, we let the our Sun sustain us, and we move on- we sprout up. WE ARE PROUD IN OUR LORD! I say this as a Christian, but I suppose this must be true for other religions as well. And,as I always say, I may not agree with you, but I will always accept you as a person- because I know how it feels.

The Ivy that grows in intricate Patterns- the Brilliant ones.  The ones who are just a bit brighter than everyone else- so the normal ones get jealous. They don't understand you, so they make fun of you. You have a more complex pattern than the rest- and it's not your fault that you're smarter than them; nor is it their fault that their dimmer than you(oooh, did I say that? Just... saying..)- It just happened. You are the ivy, they are the other, straighter plants- you just happened to grow that way to survive, that's just how your brain works! So you want to have an intelligent conversation, and not just talk about sports and gossip and sex all the time!( yes, I did go there. But let's be honest- you know that's all you hear, and I cannot be the only one who's tired of it!) But you know what- it's the ones with brilliant brains- the ivy that grows in the most confusing patterns- that reaches the top. I give you Albert Einstein, and Steve Jobs- as kids, people didn't like them. But as adults- need I say more? They where the ones who overcame the humdrum of life, and had fun, made money, had the potential to have the life THEY wanted. They didn't simplify their patterns so the ones around them felt better, and stopped making fun of them- they overcame, and succeeded.

The Ivy strewn all over the path- the people that Just. Don't. Care. Just want to say- I love you guys. Guts. The fangirls and boys, the geeks, the proud goths, the furbies, I don't know, whatever! All of you! You(and me, a fangirl!) find the beauty in things that people just can't see, and EXPOUND on it! You live it! You think differently, and stand for what you think! You know what? THAT is bravery. You stick by what you think, no matter what. People make fun of you, and that makes it hard! They just don't see what's so beautiful about what you see- and the sad part is, they fail to recognize your own beauty.

You, my friend, are not the one missing anything. If they, the "normal" people can't see that you are a human just as much as them , than that' their issue- they are the blind ones.

Ivy- the perfect representation of we who are different. We who think differently, we who go on a different path, we who refuse to be put down. And last but not least- the Victorian meaning of Ivy- friendship. So... connecting these two points, what am I saying- that being different should not divide people, it should unite them. Is there really a definition to normal- it's slightly paradoxical, I grant you. There are so many different ways to think, it gets confusing. But, to me, there is a normal- those who will go with the way of those around them. That's fine- we need that standard as a society to survive. But we should not put others down for  not conforming. We should accept them, as friends, or AT LEAST as PEOPLE, not scapegoats, not targets!

To conclude: be the Ivy. If you are different- stay strong, reach towards the light, the Sun, as Ivy always will. And like ivy, when something tries to tear you down- refuse. Grow back. And mend with the people around you.
